Configure the kiosk PIN
For: Org adminStaff
Last reviewed:
The kiosk PIN is the four-to-eight digit numeric code that prevents a volunteer from leaving attendance mode and accessing settings or member data.
TL;DR
Go to Attendance → Kiosks → <your kiosk> → Security and set a new PIN. Confirm it twice. Distribute it only to the service lead.
Steps
- Sign in as an org admin or staff with
kiosk:configurepermission. - Open Attendance → Kiosks.
- Select the kiosk you want to configure.
- Tab Security → PIN.
- Enter the new PIN (minimum four digits, maximum eight). Confirm it.
- Save. The change applies instantly across all kiosk devices.
Why it matters
Without a PIN, anyone with physical access to the device can leave kiosk mode, see member lists and modify records. It is the minimum security control for tablets in public areas.
Best practices
- Rotate the PIN every quarter or whenever someone with access leaves the team.
- Do not reuse the same PIN across all campuses; each kiosk should have its own.
- Do not share the PIN over email or WhatsApp; deliver it in person or over an encrypted channel.
- Enable auto-lock after three failed attempts in the same tab.
