Generate annual tax receipt

The annual tax receipt consolidates all of a donor’s gifts during a fiscal year into a single signed PDF, deductible per local legislation.

TL;DR

Donations → Receipts → Generate annual receipts. Pick fiscal year and donors. The system generates and emails the PDFs.

Before you start

  • Verify the church tax information is complete (legal name, tax ID, registered address). Go to Settings → Tax info.
  • Verify the campus logo is up to date (it appears on the receipt).
  • Close the fiscal year in the donations module (no later adjustments accepted).

Steps

    1. Donations → Receipts → Generate annual receipts.
    2. Select the fiscal year (default: most recent closed year).
    3. Select scope: all donors, only donors above $X, or a manual group.
    4. Preview: download one PDF and verify names, totals, tax ID.
    5. Confirm. The system generates PDFs in batch (~1 minute per 500 donors) and emails the donor. Each PDF is archived in the donor record.

Post-issue verification

  • Donations → Receipts → Annual shows the batch, count sent, failed (bounced email) and a resend button.
  • Each donor can download their receipt from the donor portal at any time.
Before sending to production

Legal formats vary by country. Confirm with your accountant that the receipt format meets local requirements before the first mass send.
